Boulder Road Runners
Dear Boulder Road Runners,
As we enter the new year it is a time for reflection and planning ahead. We all do this for ourselves and our families, and it's also an excellent opportunity to reflect on our club's future. The board is planning to make a formal schedule for this coming year. When it is done it will be posted. It is not a document written in stone and most of us know what is on it. We have a great tradition with the events and activities we do. But, now is the time for us to think anew. What fresh projects would we like to take on? Is there something we currently do, that should be discontinued? The sky is the limit. We need to talk to each other and do some brain-storming. Our club has an impressive reputation and I would like to see it continue and grow.
The newsletter is one area that I need help with. I don't have the computer skills required to complete the newsletter in a timely manner...At least not yet. Is there someone who willing to sit down with me a couple hours a month to help with this publication?
Please submit articles for the newsletter. I know we all have stories about favorite runs and races that the rest of us would like to read about. Where are our want-to-be investigative reporters? Dust off your Funk and Wagnalls and Strunk and White Elements of Style and give it a go. Dan Pierce reviewed restaurants, Dave Gardner with financial advise and Brent Friesth with business news are examples of fairly recent contributions. We also need event news and reviews. How about a high school student reporting on high school athletics?
Who is planning to go to St. Louis February 11th for the USATF X-C Championships?
UP COMING:
1. January 1st, 2012, is Sunday. Want to start the year off on the right (or left) foot? Sunday run at 9 a.m., 30th and Iris.
2. Also, Jan. 1st, a 4.5 mile predict run, 10 a.m. from the Flatiron Athletic Club in Boulder. It's a fund raiser for Emergency Family Assistance Association. Donation is $15.00. Registration is at the athletic club before the run.
3. February 6th is the next “First Monday Social” at Avery’s Brewing. Richard and Betty Valent well be hosting. Who should be our first “guest beer barista”? Now taking nominations!
